2006 YLD Diversity Award Winner LaShawnda K. Jackson helping to enrich the lives of Orlando's Youth. LaShawnda's charity for the YLD Diversity Award was the After School Outreach Program at the First Presbyterian Church of Orlando, which caters to children in the poverty-stricken Parramore district in Orlando. Part of the proceeds from the award are being used to fund cultural activities and events for these children who otherwise would not have such exposure. The photos below are from an outing to the Orlando Museum of Art where the children viewed an exhibition featuring more than 70 extraordinary quilts created by generations of African American women from Gee's Bend, Alabama.
