About the Law Student Division of The Florida Bar
The mission of the Law Student Division of The Florida Bar (“LSD”) is to assist The Florida Bar Young Lawyers Division (“YLD”) in furthering the goals of The Florida Bar. The LSD is designed to encourage interest in, and participation by, Division members in the purposes of the YLD. The LSD connects law students to YLD members, through a variety of activities and projects designed to be of interest and assistance to Division members, and engages in such activities that tend to further the best interests of the legal profession.
The LSD, in conjunction with the YLD, coordinates activities for law students providing discussion and free interchange of ideas relative to the duties, responsibilities, and problems faced by members of the legal profession. The LSD and YLD also provide mentoring opportunities, which provide professionalism training in order to enhance the integrity and reputation of the legal professional. The LSD is encouraged to aid the YLD in serving the public, particularly those persons outside the legal profession, through state-wide and local community service projects and pro bono service. As a liaison between law schools and the YLD, the LSD promotes diversity in all areas of the study and practice of law. The LSD stimulates and encourages the interest and participation of law students in the YLD and The Florida Bar.

The Young Lawyers Division Law Student Division sincerely thanks IKON for its support of the Division's fall recruitment efforts!
Message from the Law Student Division President, Jason D. Silver
Dear Fellow Law Students:
Welcome to the Young Lawyers Division Law Student Division website. The Division and this website are intended to help you learn more about The Florida Bar, put you in touch with local young lawyers, and help you navigate the transition between law school and the legal profession. I hope you take advantage of the resources provided to you by the Division and this website.
The Florida Bar does much more than regulate and discipline lawyers. It is committed to promoting camaraderie, encouraging professionalism and ethics, making a difference in the Florida community, and helping lawyers and law students reach their full potential.
Every experience I have had with the Division has been a wonderful one. By attending Division events, I have found mentors, employers and new friends. The Division is an organization that has provided me with an important outlet away from school. Through interactions with members of The Florida Bar and, specifically, members of the Young Lawyers Division, I have a renewed faith in the good of our profession. My future colleagues have reminded me that, YES, there is a light at the end of the law school tunnel! It is my hope that the Division will mean the same to you, the law students of Florida.
The Law Student Division owes its existence and success to the vision and support of The Florida Bar Young Lawyers Division, which created the Law Student Division with the goal of helping law students find mentors in their community and transition into the practice of law. Our Division is able to function and provide programs to the law students of the State thanks to the sponsorship, leadership and guidance of the Young Lawyers Division. I encourage you to explore the Young Lawyers Division website, which has information that will serve as a valuable resource for your professional goals.
Again, I encourage you to take advantage of the wonderful resources, such as networking and mentoring opportunities and pro bono and community service projects, that the Division makes available to you. Service leadership and relationships with colleagues are both important aspects of maintaining a balanced and fulfilling professional and personal life. This website, and this organization, will be valuable tools in that endeavor. Best wishes on your journey!
Sincerely,
Jason D. Silver
